Some minor rivers and tributaries in Andhra Pradesh:

  • Arani / Araniyar - Flows through TamilNadu and Andhra Pradesh, then into Bay Of Bengal at Pulicat Lake. Araniyar dam is located in Chittoor district.
  • Sarada river — small stream originating in the Eastern Ghats and flowing into the Bay of Bengal through eastern ghats. River Nagavalli flows to its north, River Gosthani in the East, and Muchukund sub-basin of the Godavari in the South.
  • Penna: Rises in Nandi Hills in Chikballapur District of Karnataka and merges in the Bay of Bengal at Utukuru, Nellore dt., Andhra Pradesh
  • Palar river rises in the Nandi Hills, Karnataka State, and flows in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and  Tamil Nadu before reaching its confluence into the Bay of Bengal at Vayalur about 100 kilometers south of Chennai. It flows as an underground river for a long distance only to emerge near Bethamangala town.
  • River Nagavali, also known as Langulya is one of the main rivers of Southern Odisha and Northern Andhra Pradesh States between Rushikulya and Godavari basins.
  • Nadari river originates in the Velikonda Mountains near Puttur and runs for about 100 kilometers through Nellore and Thiruvallur districts before joining the Buckingham Canal and joining the Bay of Bengal near Ennore.
  • Yerra Kaluva River forms the border between Khammam and West Godavari districts and drains into Uputeru along with Kolleru Lake before merging into the sea.
  • The Vedavathi rises from the Western Ghats and flows through Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. The Vedavathi is also called the Hagari in parts of Andhra Pradesh.  Two rivers, the Veda and Avathi, arise in the eastern part of the Sahyadri Hill range, flow east, and join concert near Pura to form the Vedavathi, it is a tributary to the Tungabhadra and joins the Tungabhadra near Siruguppa.
  • River Vamsadhara is an important east flowing river between Rushikulya and Godavari, in Odisha and Andhra Pradesh.
  • Tammileru is a medium river which forms the boundary between Krishna and West Godavari districts. It is the area which is often affected by floods. The river drains into Kolleru Lake.
  • Swarnamukhi river, Tirumala, and Srikalahasti are located in the river basin. It was mentioned as Mogaleru in the works of Dhurjati. It is a tributary of Kalyani River.
  • Kalyani Dam is a gravity dam constructed across the Swarnamukhi River at Tirupati City in Chittoor District of Andhra Pradesh, India. This dam is one of the major sources of water supply for Tirupati City and its catchment areas

Tributaries of Penna: 

  • Sagileru River flows between Vellikonda and Nalla Malla hills
  • Papagni River, Mala Devi River in Nellore Dt
  • Kundu River in Kurnool Dt
  • Chitravathi River flows through Puttaparthi, 
  • Cheyyur river in Chittoor District.

Tributaries of Godavari: 

  • Sabari originates in Odisha and also called as Kolab(in Odisha) forms the natural border between Odisha and  Chattisgarh, 
  • Sileru(also originates in Odisha) river is the key tributary of Sabari. 
  • Koringa River of East Godavari District., 
  • Kinnerasani river in Warangal, Khammam, and the west Godavari. Kinnerasani Wildlife sanctuary is located in Khammam along with Kinnerasani dam. 

Tributaries of Krishna: 

  • Kondaveedu stream in Guntur district
  • Tungabhadra meets Krishna at Sangameshwaram in Kurnool district.
