- Laghubhaskariyavivarana was written by Shankaranarayana(840-940 CE).
- It is the commentary on Laghubhaskariya by Bhaskara, which in turn is the commentary on the works of Aryabhatta.
- Shankaranarayana was the famous astronomer in the court of Chera King Sthanu Ravi Kulashekara of Kerala region.
- Shankaranarayana is well known for setting up of Mahodayapuram Space Observatory. Mahodayapuram was the capital of Cheras.
- Shankaranarayana has used KaTaPaYaDi system extensively in Laghubhaskariyavivarana.
- Haridatta is another astronomer from Kerala in 5th century, known for his promulgation of Prahita System of numerical computation.
