Rossby Waves


  • Also known as planetary waves.
  • It is a natural phenomenon occurring in atmospheres and oceans of the planets whose properties largely depend on their respective rotations.
  • They are associated with pressure systems and jet-streams in the high altitudes of the atmosphere. (Atmospheric Rossby Waves)

  • They have a major influence on weather.
